This site provides updated information about the City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction King Street Reconstruction Project.

As part of its commitment to maintaining Oahu’s infrastructure, the City will be reconstructing King Street in Chinatown, between River and Bethel Streets. In addition, the sewer, gas and water lines beneath this section of King Street (and a short distance into the side streets) will either be rehabilitated or replaced entirely due to the age and condition of the facilities.

The project begins March 5, 2012, and the project is scheduled to be completed in September 2013.  The schedule may be modified due to inclement weather, holidays, and encounters made during construction.

Because the project will inevitably affect neighboring residents and businesses, as well as motorists and pedestrians, we are committed to minimizing its impacts as much as possible, and ask for your patience and understanding.

Please come back often, as this site will be updated regularly. If you have any questions or comments, please click here or call the project hotline at 945-1011.
